Ceramic Coating vs Wax
There has been many debates in the car detailing industry about ceramics and car waxes. Which is better?
Simple real answer to that is, they're both designed for different situations Completely. They cannot be compared.
Ceramic coatings offer durable protection for your car, but waxes offer better gloss and slickness. Ceramic coatings take many hours to prep and install, waxes only take minutes. There is also a major price difference.
At the end of the day, ceramic coatings will not replace waxes. Or vice verse.
Waxes are best for show cars, weekend cars, and a more affordable option for car protection. waxes give a much higher gloss as well. Most car shows will opt out for a nice wax. It protects and helps easier maintaining of your exterior washes, but it helps fill in minor defects temporarily, and give a higher gloss. It will not last as long, and it isn’t heat resistant like ceramics.
Ceramic coatings are for those who want a long term “like new” appearance. It’s mostly catered towards protection and resistance from outside elements. it isn’t as glossy as waxes, because the coating will only look as good as the paint correction underneath it.
So if you have a garage kept vehicle, weekend driver, or a show car, waxes are your go to. For bigger and better protection from elements and help keep your new or expensive cars from long term deterioration, ceramics are your go to.
